Now that we are home for the foreseeable future, I can try and tackle some home projects that have been on my list. As I wrote my list I realized that I clearly want to transform almost everything brown in my house. I am going to share with you all of my before pictures and my plans for them. Then stay tuned as I check them off my list.
Project number one – TV Cabinet
This TV cabinet has been bothering me for years. I bought it on a whim years ago because I needed something quick that wasn’t too expensive. As I was scrolling through Instagram this weekend I came across some posts that inspired me and gave me a clear vision of what I want to do. One was a before and after from Eleven Magnolia Lane, in fact, I think she may have started with the same type of cabinet. The other is the one that they got inspiration from, Schoolside Design.
Project Number Two- Corner Cabinet
Years ago my father in law, Jimmy, unbeknownst to us came over and took an old door out of our basement. It showed up again at Christmas time attached to a corner cabinet he built for our dining room. In true Jimmy fashion, it was wrapped in caution tape. It was so sweet of him, and we need the storage, but the finish and particleboard shelves would not have been my first choice. He was a dentist by trade, not a builder to be fair.
I plan on painting it the same color as the dining room trim and then lining it with something fun, I am thinking pink. Stay tuned for what I pick out.
Project Number Three – Paint Picture Frames
I have all these Pottery Barn Frames that used to hang in the stairway. I took them all down when we repainted the entryway and stairs and I have yet to put them back. Part of it is that I no longer love the color of the frames, and who am I kidding – I have just been lazy. I would love to hang them back up, but I want to paint them first. I want to use paint from Amy Howard Home, but not sure if I want to go with matte colors or go full lacquer. Hmmm…
Project Number Four – Dresser
To be honest, I am not sure that this project will happen. Mainly because I don’t know where it will go and what color it should be. Currently, it sits on the third floor in the guest room, but the plan is to demo it this summer to create a master suite. Maybe it could go into Max’s room, but not sure. I am dying to paint it with a fabulous lacquer. My inspiration is The Resplendent Crow. Her furniture rehabs are to die for.
So these are my goals for the quarantine. Stay tuned for what I get done. I’m off to order some supplies.
I am looking forward to seeing the transformation of the brown pieces to white or another color. Loving your blog!!
Canât wait to see the finished products! I wish I were better at doing this DIY stuff!
