Today as we started week 2 of quarantine I am feeling more and more overwhelmed. I hate this feeling powerless to it all and thinking of ways I can help. One idea I had was doing what we can to support small businesses. Here are some of my favorite places owned by friends of mine. Even if you don’t need anything, think about getting a small gift for a friend to surprise them out of the blue. A little kindness can go a long way right now. Also if you are on Instagram make sure to give them a follow.

El’s Cards – Art and Stationary
I love Ellen’s creations so much. She did my place cards for our wedding and I have also enlisted her to create a custom map of Zanzibar for my sister. Her maps make great gifts and she has beautiful cards. Now is a good time to send someone you love a card. Follow her @elscards
Beauty Counter – Emily Torres – Skincare
If you are looking to up your skincare game while in quarantine, Emily can help you find what’s best for your skin. Between stress, eating too much and not washing my face enough I need all the help I can get. My favorite is the No. 1 Brightening Facial oil.
For Your Zoom Parties
One silver lining in all this is the way we are getting creative about keeping in touch. Human connection is so important right now. Just because your friends are on the other side of a screen does not mean that you can’t have a fabulous glass of wine and a beautiful cheese plate. Here are two of my favorite small businesses to up your virtual cocktail party game!
This is one of my favorite small businesses of all time. Jasper Hill was started by brothers Andy and Matteo Kehler in Greensboro, Vermont. They are not only insanely good cheesemakers, but they are also dear friends. I recommend ordering some for yourself and send a surprise box to a friend. I had one sent to someone yesterday. I can’t wait for them to get it. Harbison is my favorite! @jasperhillfarm
If you are in the Boston area and want wine delivered try local star and Best of Boston winner, Urban Grape. Owners (and my neighbors) TJ and Hadley Douglas have come up with a fresh approach to picking out wines. Instead of organizing them by religion or type they do it by body. You can read more about that here. You get 15% off all mixed cases. @urbangrape
